According to a story over at Wired:
Researchers at the University of California at Los Angeles have tweaked HIV to create a gene therapy that attacks cancer tumors in mice.
It’s nice to know that research into the cure for cancer is advancing, but would it be worth infecting yourself with HIV? I guess at least with HIV you can lead a considerably normal life (well some can). But then again, how can anyone be sure that you could? Do doctors have some way of telling?
Seeing as both HIV and Cancer are terminal, which is the more painful way to die?
If I was in the unfortunate situation of having to decide which to choose, I’m not sure I could. Then again, maybe nobody will have to because we don’t know for sure if this will work on humans or not.
